A method of treating tumors in a localized area by blocking the blood vessels to the area. This is done by inserting a thin tube (catheter) into an artery and injecting tiny pellets or other materials, which then travel "downstream" and block the smaller arteries. The pellets may also carry chemotherapeutic agents for release in the area ("chemoembolization").
